Synchronous Orbit is the new 4 track is it an album is it a remix 12" single in old terms, it's 46 minutes long with two versions of Star Power the song that was originally on the bands New Earth Speed Album, the Star power Mix is 9 minutes of an early demo of the finished son and a shorter radio mix. The Heavy Lidders are Ryan Jewell, Kate Wright, Aaron Dooley, Scott Verrastro, Drew Gardner and Jess Shepherd and special guest Isiah Collier on Plasticone Circle. Part of this review features sampled text from Gun Needle Spoon by Patrick O'Neil.
The album opens with Star Power (Sunflower Mix) this is the full on 11-minute opus that slowly meanders across the speakers, with hazy guitars and somnambulant vocals whispering in your ears. This moves like treacle and the slowest Magic Hour tune you can find. They meander dissolving time and space, feeling like it's a couple of hours long, this is not to be listen to if you are not stoned. Journey into the hemispheric worlds close to the Marshmallow Coast.
Bernal Afterburn down a shot of firewater, hit a massive pipe or two, chew some gummies, mellow out hazed, phased psychedelic guitar wanderings, di-methylated snare rattles, Nag Champa enveloped room, wafting in front of lava lamps, green light oil wheels, summoning those spirits. Needle spoon and gun dishevelled men huddle, got some Dolaphine, man this isn't even codeine solipsistic waves.
Plasticone Circle (Slight return) is a 19 minute long, middle of the night, stoned out your tiny mind jam, with a great 4 minute tune dying to be mixed right out of this tape. No chance of rehab they've all popped a handful of Valium's, strange glances dreaming Prozac is back in style, they might have some energy again, instead of playing prone, lying on the floor almost unable to open your eyes. At last the sax blows in, lifting you up, you can open those peepers, another day in the machine, crying, drinking taking pills, sonic devastation, dense slabs of sax strewn guitar recurrences, totally lost in an unfamiliar taste, more dope sick than adrenaline rush.
Crash, Crash Buzzkill, substance revelations Sixth & Mission can they ever make it back to Market Street.
The album closes with Star Power (Sunflower Mix) Radio Edit cut down to a mere six or so minutes, the more focussed, yet still hazy, just as woozy, for when your head feels thick, are you strung out again, getting dope sick, hemispheric Marshmallow coast illuminations. All they want are peanut butter and skittles, malted milk balls with hash inside give them some Star Power.
