Review: 'Heavenly'
'Portland Town/Someone Who Cares'

-  Label: 'Skep Wax Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '18.7.25.'-  Catalogue No: 'SKEPWAX032'

Our Rating:
Portland Town is the first new single by Heavenly in 29 years and is released in advance of the band's comeback album, due out in the early part of 2026, it is released in time for the bands re-union show at the Skep Wax weekender. The current line-up of Heavenly are Amelia Fletcher, Rob Pursey, Cathy Rogers, Peter Momtchiloff and Ian Button.

Portland Town opens with Amelia delivering a statement that sometimes you need to be brave, before the jangling pop you expect from Heavenly comes in to make clear how at home they feel when they are in Portland Oregon, while remembering the carefree days when it was still safe to travel to the USA, this is hopeful and has a great stop start riff that nags away at your brain nicely.

The B-side is Someone Who Cares a cool indie love song, that answers the question of what will happen if you follow them home tonight, and no you won't be arrested for being a stalker, this sounds like classic Heavenly, nice and jangly with sophisticated lyrics and a cool sense of yearning, hoping for a sweeter, better life.
