Review: 'GOLD, ALEX'
'Stranded in Paradise'

-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: 'January 2005'

Our Rating:
Or stranded in the Balearic Islands? It’s a nice enough melodic idea, but it's not a song and the beats are just what you’d expect. Not hard enough, not sharp enough, and with no new synth or other sounds to tickle the aural follicles, it’s something for the fans that the rest of us can probably manage without.

It's a taster of an album to come and there will be queues of people who want it. They know who they are.

In the background there's the story of Gold having a serious accident while hedonising in Thailand. This is a comeback for him at what seems to me like a crushingly inappropriate time. But maybe the resonance will help the real emotional content that the bland machinery of dance music just can’t hide.

My CD copy had four mixes – starting with a 7 inch radio version and ending with the Agnelli and Nelson mix. Club and Extended Club come in between.
