Review: 'BLIND JACKSON'
'London, Upstairs @ The Garage, 17th Feb 2005'

-  Genre: 'Indie'

Our Rating:
Camden sextet BLIND JACKSON meld infectious melodies with a fleeting sense of new wave awareness, creating a sound that isn’t quite definitive but is damn likeable.

Don’t be put off by the Camden moniker as this is more Mersey than I care to mention. The stabbing guitar and playful organ spar with front man Simon Badham’s distinctive jarring vocal as the rag tag Blind Jackson flit from Supergrass to The Coral with beat stamping regularity.

‘Keep on Running’ is pure genius. The bass repetitively ticks over before an organ pounding chorus breaks down into an impossibly contagious pick guitar sequence. ‘In The Club’ makes a mockery of 50 Cent's previous effort as it takes on the Specials with free flowing organ before launching into a Supergrass-esque chorus. Intent in or unable to stick to a fixed time signature you’re going to need more than one dance move to keep up.

Deltasonic will be kicking themselves.
