Akoustik Anarchy pioneers LOOSE CANON come at you with a barrage of harried guitars, echoing vocals and a DIY ethos Changing Rooms would frown upon.
‘Cruising On The 86’ sees a song of marked simplicity delivered with a bleak optimism. A song about a bus route? Surely it can't be that interesting but as vocalist Noel Vasquez ruminates and speaks of a ‘party in this city’ the back drop of guitars gather momentum for a towering crescendo that has all the control of a British Sea Power finale.
B side ‘Test 165’, meantime, was written and recorded in 90 minutes and holds a dark repetition akin to Ian Curtis and The Kills guitarist Hotel holed up in a basement.
’You better run, better hop, better skip, better jump in life’. Well do as the man says but do it all the way to the record store.
