The Sea Sang Screaming by Bad Fractals has taken the band a good few years to complete, but finally the album is out, ready to fry the minds of anyone who gets to hear it, you may need a boat load of drugs for this to totally make sense, but it will be worth the effort, just don't totally overindulge. Bad Fractals are an international concern based in London, they are led by Bang Crosby and Astral Oz who roped in Hedge Seel renaming him Fred Astray along with Fred Stitz and Kaycee K who recorded parts of the album at Old Street Studios and partly written in a Squatted disused mental home, the album was produced in collaboration with Youth and mixed by Michael Rendall and recorded by Jery Kandiah.
The album opens with Bee Sting that may be about the super strong cider, that will indeed poison you tonight, they freak out, not quite understanding what it's done to their minds, they are fried and the music seems calm, while the vocals totally freak out, hoping to have some more of that poison, totally taking them to some other plain of existence.
Disco Devils is all about trying to chat someone up, offering them drugs and influence, over the mad hatter backing, going in several directions at once, like they took all the drugs and freaked out, will you give in to temptations or not, slow middle part is like you took all the downers and monged out, while he wants to give you another taste in another town, that might make you spring back into action, like you're having an acid fried Psychobilly freakout.
What You Looking At? Well what are you staring at, if you like what you see, will you have sex with them, gang chorus punctuates the Coffin Nails and bad drugs freak out they are having. The room is swimming, they haven't a clue how to come back down, totally fucked again.
Dirty White Toads are high on too many Fall records, love dissipated itchy feelings of fear and despair, Big Stick battered psychosis of indecision, tearing at the minds and synapses keeping them drunk on fear.
Chemical Weddings the love you feel while up, hate you feel when you're down, they are melting down to a dirty bassline and cowbell and cymbal heavy drums, allowing the dark tales to unfold, they are totally insane and high again, living the urges along with the purges, a different musical mood for each and every drug they took, on that excessive binge they are describing.
½ Price Paradise is an almost hardcore staccato tale of getting locked out and other derangements, of a life spent in the darkest corners of drug dens being navigated. Freerange asks among other things how many tines you've fucked today and many other things, crystal meth orgiastic mutant blues, never leaving the brothel, shooting gallery of desire they are in, if you need more drugs, do another sex act.
Strike! The old school 60's and 70's battle cry with a full-on stomping riff, they give you all the reasons for taking to the barricades and screaming Strike! At full volume again, before slow sweet breakdown, chanting begins accusations fly.
Walk Of Shame the party has finally ended, harsh reality of daylight, stumbling home over the falling apart distortions, sunlight brings pains in their bodies. The Album closes with Taxman in some ways the most conventional song on the album, a pirate metal edge to all the things they do to run from the Taxman, even if his grip on you can never let up, they are just stuck inside another fight against the man, allowing them to live however they want, no matter how squalid it might be. The only fate they really want the chant of, off with their heads becoming reality.
