'YOU GOT NOTHING ON ME'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '7th March 2005'-  Catalogue No: 'ATUK005CD'

Our Rating:
Coming to you from Leeds via LA with ex-Guns'n'Roses producer Mike Clink in tow, THE GLITTERATI throw riffsmart, turbo-aggro shapes with "You Got Nothing On Me".

In itself, that's nothing special, and to even think of this quintet as being in the same ballpark as anything you could credibly describe as 'groundbreaking' would be risible, but whether it's the quality in Paul Gautrey's sleazy sneer of a hard rock voice or the band's drilled performance that seals it, "You Got Nothing On Me" is nonetheless a decent listen, slipping into the space between Young Heart Attack and the much-maligned Datsuns.

Actually, that tenuous Antipodean link seems even more tangible with flipside "Skin Tight", which - after declaring its' dishonourable intentions with a nippy bassline - slugs down a shot of that no-nonsense, piledriving punky rock'n'roll the likes of The Lime Spiders have previously excelled at to ensure it comes roaring out of the traps. It does, too, leaving the requisite scorch marks in its' wake.

The Glitterati represent the time-honoured bar-room tradition of loud, no-nonsense, ball-out RAWK, and while they may hail from Leeds, have clearly found their spiritual home in LA and have no intention of doing anything but playing to their strengths. For all that, "You Got Nothing On Me" is an above-average rabble-rouser, and will surely do their reputation no harm at all.
