Review: 'DUKE SPIRIT, THE'
'LOVE IS AN UNFAMILIAR NAME'

-  Label: 'LOOG (www.dukespirit.com)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '2nd May 2005'-  Catalogue No: 'DUKESPIRIT5'

Our Rating:
Shakers, voodoo vibes, bitten-off guitar riffs and heatseeking vocals from indie ice maiden Liela Moss.....yes, it's the latest in the on-going series of terrific singles from THE DUKE SPIRIT.

So, "Love Is An Unfamiliar Name" isn't much of a deviation from the tried and tested Duke Spirit sound we've come to expect, only this time they've again upped the intensity, added some cool, Stones-y "ooo-oohs" and improved the melody quotient: something that their excellent debut album-in-waiting "Cuts Across The Land" will make clear on a larger scale.

So "Love Is An Unfamiliar Name" comes with a familiar ring, but it's urgent, unstintingly dirty rock'n'roll projected from gut level and makes a truly seductive noise, which - in this case - is plenty good enough for you and for me.
