Review: 'Kut, The'
'Poisonest EP'

-  Label: 'Criminal Records UK'
-  Genre: 'Post-Rock' -  Release Date: '14th March 05'-  Catalogue No: 'CRIM1000CD'

Our Rating:
This 6 track EP is a great piece of work and well worth the mere £5.99 I paid for it. All girl band The Kut, effortlessly cross the domains of rock, punk, dub, urban & even dance with the credibility of well established acts. They combine sultry vocals, gripping lead solos, heavy bass, eerie keys and solid drums, into powerful melodic songs covering a variety of styles.

The EP features their best selling single 'The Vision' telling a twisted rock tale through the prospective eyes of a serial killers prey. Aswell as catchy uptempo tracks such as 'Work's Shit' & 'Sevens'. Eerie track 'Poisonest' is reminiscent of early Soundgarden & Dave Grohl drumming while lead off track 'Powder' cleverly sets the mood. The track ‘Don’t Want You’ is also featured on ‘The Criminal Sessions’ - a recent compilation of various new artists.

The live set is hot too: here they focus a little more on the groovy guitar licks, break beats, dub & a mix of dark dance and upbeat punky tracks.
