THE COLOUR hail from a town called Whittier, California and are signed to The Killers' label. They seem unafraid to fraternise with the enemy, though, for they've recently been brazenly supporting The Bravery on tour.
There again, this debut single suggests they've little reason to hide their light under any bushel, as they are capable of turning respectable tricks with bright, danceable indie creations. Indeed, lead track "Mirror Ball" is poppy and well-seasoned, refuses to outstay its' welcome and is pleasingly rough and smooth in balanced proportions.
The additional tracks also find a houseproud band keen to acquit themselves well. "Down In The Circus" is nagging and rocky, with David Quon and Luke MacMaster's guitars meshing with intuitive glee. It's tidy without lacking bite, as is the closing "Tambourine", which once again presents us with skinnily melodic, riffsmart pop. It's pretty good, though vocalist Wyatt Hull's overwrough voice sails scarily close to Robert Smith territory during some sorties.

Nonetheless, this is still a punchy, no-nonsense debut and in the main it demonstrates The Colour sure ain't dull. No need to adjust your sets for this lot.
