Review: 'SUSAN ACID'
'MISS ANTHROPY'

-  Label: 'GENIN RECORDS'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '4th June 2005'

Our Rating:
SUSAN ACID are an Italian/English four piece made up of Matteo (vocals, guitar, programming), Memo (guitar), Joba (bass) and James (drums). Their debut mini-album ‘Miss Anthropy’ is pretty scary stuff, which kind of reminds you why people first started making angry, heavy rock music, back in the days before it became the object of self-parody.

‘The Pincushion Queen’ is an ominous way to start the CD, mixing powerful choruses with quieter, tension-building verses. ‘Humbledrome’ sounds like the soundtrack to a snuff film, with just-audible screaming covered by a layer of machine-gun guitar that’s as thick and black as tarmac. ‘Enter The Hero’ is the sort of music you’d expect to welcome you at the gates of Hell and ‘The Toy Of God’ would blare deafeningly from loudspeakers as you tried to make your escape.

‘Influx’ has a chorus that will have metal lovers gurning with glee and there’s no let up as the full-on assault on your ears continues into final track ‘Homology’.

There’s nothing particularly obvious to distinguish the songs, but they’ll definitely hit with the mark with a certain group of people. Not for those of a nervous disposition then, but if you’re a fan of bands of the ilk of Nine Inch Nails or Alice In Chains you might enjoy a spot of Susan Acid.
