Dirt Box is the latest EP from Industrial legends Pig who as ever are helmed by Raymond Watts with help and assistance from Marc Heal, Günter Schulz and Jim Davies. With each song on the album being remixed by Combichrist, Cyanotic, Stabbing Westwards and Rabbit Junk.
The album opens with An American Ideal Of Beauty that's raging at the insanity of what America has become and the descent into ugly rhetoric and uglier politicians, claiming to understand what makes America or anywhere else beautiful, they just want you to agree and with them and do what your told. The crushing industrial rock is intense and raging for the need for fundamental change for any chance of real beauty to shine through.
Your Reptilian Overlord Presents the end of sanity and anything we hold dear, tearing down edifices and destroying the things that makes everything work, the super heavy beats readying us all to get on our knees and spread our asses so that our reptilian overlords can have their evil way and steal everything from everyone. Grinding away and making clear just what an ugly predicament we are in the middle of.
Infidel is slower and more like a love letter to that Infidel that he wants to see burn in hell, this twists it's synth curlicues around the idea of regime change that we are all dreaming and hoping for.
Butterfly won't accept bowing down to your idiocy and the destruction of our world, while soaring as high as a butterfly on migration, hoping to not witness the gods of carnage at work far below, bringing death and glory to heathen lands once more.
The remix side opens with Your Reptilian Overlord (Cyanotic Remix) that adds breaking glass and phaser stun gun sounds, stripping out some of the beats while the vocals end up sounding angrier and terser in this setting. Allowing us all to shake our scaly asses at them in despair.
An American Ideal Of Beauty (Stabbing Westward Remix) feels leaner and slightly meaner with harder beats crushing at the madness of our times, allowing the vocals to be very clearly heard, Raymond gets his point across succinctly.
Butterfly (Combichrist remix) slows it down to a darkwave synth pop pace for all the unacceptable behaviour to be ripped apart, while that Butterfly starts to soar within the echo chamber they create.
Infidel (Rabbit Junk Remix) brings the muezzin's call more to the fore and allows us to know just how terrible the crimes being done in the name of religious purity are, never try to burn those you consider to be Infidels as the atmospherics denote just how scary things have become.
