Review: 'FEEDER'
'PUSHING THE SENSES'

-  Label: 'ECHO'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '27TH JUNE 2005'-  Catalogue No: 'RADCD173'

Our Rating:
FEEDER have never appealed to me, a band destined to continually make the promotion playoffs but lacking the killer touch to make the step up to the Premiership. There is just something about them that is “by the numbers” and their music – admittedly only known through their singles and by witnessing a couple of support slots – seems to be too influenced by acts of the recent past: a low grade blend of bands from the modern Rock era rather than inspired resurrectionists of untapped legacies from Rock’s foundations.

That said ‘Pushing The Senses’ – the title track from their fifth studio album - is one of their better efforts, mainly because it ditches the mid-tempo melancholy that has dominated more recent releases in favour of a bristling pace and even some hand-claps (always a winner). The Radiohead/Nirvana/Oasis axis still dominates their sound – and The Foo Fighters really spring to mind - but at least there’s some excitement and urgency to sustain interest beyond its sub 4 minute playing time.
