Review: 'CASUAL SAINTS'
'BONES IN THE SUN'

-  Label: 'FAT NORTHERNER (www.fatnortherner.com)'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '12th September 2005'-  Catalogue No: 'FNRCAS001'

Our Rating:
CASUAL SAINTS apparently played their first gig at a warehouse party in London, where they wowed the crowd, but ended up incurring the wrath of a frustrated neighbour who tried to set about the band with a hammer afterwards.

Despite this riot-friendly story, though, t'Saints aren't yet another bunch of East End urchins, as they actually hail from Manchester, and - all being well - won't have to fear for their skulls with the release of this single, either. Because, put simply, "Bones In The Sun" is bouncy, quintessentially English guitar pop which references the likes of The Ordinary Boys and a less whisky-addled Golden Virgins more accurately than any of its' current Mancunian contemporaries.

And, at least on this showing, that's probably not a bad thing. "Bones In The Sun" showcases a sprightly bunch of contenders with suss and hooks aplenty. You never know: it might just be enough to see them through.
