Judging by this double A-side release, North Londoners BLIND JACKSON are in thrall to the sonic playfulness of 1970s art pop. ‘Face fit for the radio’ is a righteous glam stomper embellished with all manner of vintage synthesised noise and backing vocals more than a little reminiscent of 10cc.
‘Some things will never change’ is altogether edgier, its relentless motorik repetition imparting an ironic urgency to a song about stasis and frustration.
With tunes like this, and sonic cousins like Mystery Jets on the cusp of recognition, 2006 could be a good year for Blind Jackson.
