Our Rating:
Death growls? Check. Thundering guitars? Check. Ear bleeding drums? Check. All is evidently in order for this dark and moody metal album that is definitely on the melodic side of the genre - they're not quite Emo, but they do harp on about their ex’s a fair bit though. Hmmm.

Apart from the growling screams - and granted that's part and parcel of the beast - there’s always something amusing about grown men singing as if they’re in a lot of "pain". And what with practically every single song being hugely epic in nature, one wouldn’t be surprised if this was played from US helicopters a-la-Apocalypse Now, just to put the wind up the insurgents. Well, either that, or they could use some Daniel Powter tracks, that would be enough to make anyone bayonet themselves. Anyway…

So if you like this sort of music, I imagine that this album is quite a good one, it has all the right components (see aforementioned checklist), but in terms of subject matter it focuses a bit too heavily on relationships and family life - so if it's angry lyrics, or even a bit of teen angst you're after, then look elsewhere.

If however, you’re a frustrated aging rocker who has ended up with a suited job, living a semi-detached Barrett Home, then grab a copy, it could prove to be quite cathartic.
