Review: 'V//FORMATION'
'LITTLE HEART'

-  Label: 'Double Dragon Music'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'May 15 2006'

Our Rating:
Released as red vinyl and digital download, this is a sweetly scuffed up tune. It has my favourite kind of understated chunking guitar with a semi chord shift on a telecaster that builds a little tension and hooks the attention. Chris Robinson beats a heavy bass pedal on his kit and Greg and Rik Brown do terrific rasping vocals.

"Hey You! ... With the pointed shoes ... Yeh you!" they snarl.

It all cuts through the smoke very nicely. There's a finely suppressed excitement that evokes the spirit of the Velvet Underground. Nice work.

B/w "Open the Oceans" is a bit more funk than punk, but keeps the focus on night time moves. Maybe a bit ponderous, but Pete Robinson's immense bass line is definitely worth going down the cellar steps for. The Belfast band are touring the mainland UK throughout May. Recommended.
