The doors of perception, itching bedsheets and a distinct lack of logical progression are amongst the themes of this disturbed night of sleep ‘standing’ from THE LIKE.
‘What I Say And What I Mean’ is a slightly grunge-orientated and very ordinary teenage full-volume rock record. It is a definite ‘single’, with an at-times rapid-fire machine-gun vocal delivery overriding the subtle squeals of distortion from the guitar.
Typically for the product of a three-piece outfit, the levels of intensity are high, and the sound is ‘busy’, with not a moment’s respite for anyone concerned.
Mam and Dad might just kill you if you play this repetitively enough, but though the sound is one of rebellion and angst, the tune doesn’t quite cut enough original rug on it’s journey along a well worn path through all-girl rock country.
