Review: 'SUCIOPERRO'
'DIALOG ON THE 2'

-  Label: 'Captains of Industry'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'May 6th 2006'

Our Rating:
SUCIOPERRO are mates of BIFFY CLYRO, and J.P. Reid (AKA The Dragon) has worked wih Clyro offshoot MARMADUKE DUKE. They share roots in Ayrshire.

The three songs on this single are " Dialog On The 2", " Conversation With A Wasp" and "The Altruist". The full album "Random Acts of Intimacy" itself came out in mid June.

"Dialog On The 2" is the rougher and tougher end of what Sucioperro do, with aggressive riffing and shouty vocals "I am stupid, I have a basic understanding of nothing" chants The Dragon in convincing exposition of life's bewildering opacity. The tune does move towards sounds that could catch an emo badge or two as it get choppy and more upbeat (in a restrained kind of way).

"Conversation With A Wasp" starts off in pretty much the same rough style, but gentles towards the lovelorn with vocal harmonies and a more sensitive lyric before regaining self confidence, some angsty guitarising fuzz and lots of assertive "fuckings" in the final section. But no wasps. The loss of true love stings like crazy, for sure.

"The Altruist" has a sweetly rolling guitar phrase and a folksie tune that could be from Gary Lightbody. It’s rather nice. "still so fucking angry" pops into a gentle line to remind us how serious the guy is. But it is the only false moment in an otherwise fine song.
