Its not exactly a testament to a band's achievement when there are more PR/journos than actual fans turning up to see them play live. Sadly, this was the crack with SNOWFIGHT IN THE CITY CENTRE.
The whole evening smacked of shameless boy-band-ism. The music was so utterly derivative that it seemed pointless standing all the way through their set, as everyone had heard the same old pants before - obviously this was another case of 'indie-pop-by-numbers'.
Another clue to towards the plastic nature of SFITCC was the borderline plagarism within the music - most obviously their riffs were nicked from The Editors (it would be unfair and inaccurate to draw the conclusion that the Joy Division played any part in this band's influences - mainly because SFITCC are probably too young to remember them, and too mentally stable to portray the gravitas that Ian Curtis held).

If you were to see bands such as Busted et al, you could be forgiven if you uttered the words "Ah well, at least they play their own instruments". But the punters should NEVER feel this way with true alternative music. Sadly, SFITCC left a bitter aftertaste in this writer's mouth.
