Review: 'EVERCHANGING NOMAD'
'HERO TODAY, GONE TOMORROW'

-  Label: 'TURNER RECORDS INC.'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '2006'

Our Rating:
They say never judge a book by its cover, & this is to be borne in mind when confronted with EVERCHANGING NOMAD. The mystical, cartoon cover of Christ being chased on a horse by a series of swooping apparitions – a Knight, what looks like a Viking and bizarrely, Santa Clause being pulled on his sledge. The band photo with the singer Damon Lynn holding a pulsating computer generated orb, also helps give a distinct impression of the dodgiest of dodgy Eurovision Song Contest metal.

I was not looking forward to this, but I’m pleased & shocked that far from cock-rock, this is more along the melodic, jangly, indie pop vibe, with a good amount of electronic backing. It fits the mid to late-90’s Madchester scene stuff well, especially The Stone Roses. They fit the mould, but it is very derivative, and never quite takes the listener into the territories they hope. The vocals are to my mind the most immediate element. The lyrics are strong & well delivered. Worth a listen, just look past the artwork.
