Review: 'ORGAN, THE'
'Memorise The City'

-  Label: 'Too Pure'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '17th July 2006'-  Catalogue No: 'PURE 200CDS'

Our Rating:
This offering from Vancouver girls THE ORGAN pulls at the ankles with a sinking sand melody on guitar, with the organ offering another low-level hook to follow.

The sea is never far away from this desperate searching glance at a kind of hallucinogenic play mat vision of a town seen from ground level. Katie Sketch hangs her memories on the buildings and other sights but there is no time to stand back and admire her work as her consciousness spews up involuntary urges and emotions in time to the orchestral skank that develops. The drama is the same as in a bad dream.

‘No One Has Ever Looked So Dead’ allows more freedom for Sketch to let her vocal cords vibrate, although this delicate duet on ¾ size guitar and ‘House of God’ organ is a direct continuation of the association of places with the memories. It feels too short and is over too soon, this 2-track record, and even though it doesn’t have the moving quality of the band’s live performances it still leaves you wishing that you had hold of the album.
