Review: 'Grand Volume'
'History / Fire Come Soon'

-  Label: 'Fat Northerner Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '13.11.2006'-  Catalogue No: 'FNRGRA002'

Our Rating:
Manchester 3 piece Grand Volume’s first release for Fat Northerner Records is a spacey, quirky, rocked out affair. “History” rocks out in a similar way to The Queens Of The Stone Age, with all the eccentricities left in and a large additional doses of Devo thrown in for good measure. It’s an extremely curious and compelling track, I like it a lot. “Fire Come Soon” comes crashing in with more rock than the lead track, which leads into more curious rock free breakdowns. There seems to be so many different styles of music in here and that might have ended in disaster, but with these guys, it works very well indeed. If you like rock and punk and eccentricity all in the same band, then Grand Volume are the band for you.

These two tracks are taken from the forthcoming debut album, “Send Me Your Champion” which is due for release in March 2007.
