Our Rating:
If someone mentions BASEMENT JAXX to me I instantly think of dancing grannies! The video for their latest tune ‘Take Me Back To Your House’ apparently features dancing bears, something which would probably attract my attention a little more than the actual song.

‘Take Me Back To Your House’ is a strange amalgamation of what could be 3 different songs. With an introduction that is reminiscent of science fiction films about “the future” which were made in the 80’s. It then switches to a series of pacy jingly jangly riffs. The use of the banjo is imaginative, it’s not an instrument you would expect to find on a dance track but it’s effective and adds a fresh twist.

The track finishes with what sounds like another song that was simply added as an afterthought.

Despite all the changes ‘Take Me Back To Your House’ never really grabs your attention, it’s OK, just rather meagre in comparison to past Basement Jaxx.

But it does knock the socks off b-side techno track ‘Lollipop’, which at 7 minutes is way too long and repetitive.
