Our Rating:
Leeds-based trio SKY LARKIN have a dipping, surging, squealing hit on their hands!

'One Of Two' crashes across the senses like the proverbial bull in a china shop, taking no prisoners as it fills your head full of uplifting noise.

I love this for the staccato guitar breaks and a thunderous bassline that punches its weight from underneath the impossibly paced hi-hat 1/16ths. Katie's vocal mantra, “The last man stand-innng” loops with crazed intent around the all-hands-on-deck sound, the unmistakable work of a three-piece outfit, the syllables spread across that uncompromising sonic assault. It floods the senses, feeding back wildly through the broken-beat drum pattern as the tune whirls onwards with abandon, leaving a trail of devastation in it's wake.

The band have already touted their gorgeous pop sound in support of the likes of BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE and FORWARD RUSSIA!, as well as Bella Union faves HOWLING BELLS, and their sudden-impact sound, alive and energetic, makes it so easy to see why. The vinyl is limited to just 500 copies, ensuring that the collectability factor will enhance their already cultish standing.

Backed with more of the same in 'Young Lungs', a more understated blend of the same ingredients, the strength of style is glaringly obvious, but when it sounds this good, the last thing you need is variety. It's a hugely impressive record, a total belter!
