Our Rating:
Hello to Smart Pop. This CD single is stylish-looking and perky-sounding, “Monsters” has a spinning one-bar phrase of fuzzy guitar and a lascivious female vocal carrying the WAAAH! burden. The Monster (Matt) shows up to sing a short verse and it really could be 1959 all over again. Jedi Wyatt, Matt Bolton and Anna Greenaway (THE SUGARS themselves) have captured US teen rock and roll and made it their imaginary friend. They race through the neighbourhood cackling and laughing and every other kid on the block feels jealous. But each has a different reason.

Good work.

“Serenade” goes for the New York Italian thing. Brownstone front steps, slicked back romance and a threat of danger in the night air.

Cool.
