Review: 'BRONX, THE'
'Shitty Future'

-  Label: 'Witchita Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '29 January 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'webb1165cdp'

Our Rating:
This short, punchy 2 minute blast of LA punk-metal does the business nicely.

It leads in with a Shellac-style solo bass line then explodes with a blazing riff and raging vocals. Very immediate with appropriately tasteless lyrics like "slit wrists are the latest fashion, and your sheets see the dirtiest action".

The edge of this uncompromising rebellious spirit is blunted somewhat by the inclusion of a 'clean version' of the track wherein 'shitty' is rendered as "here comes your s***** future". For a band trading in off the cuff streetwise attitude this piece of self censorship strikes me as being a tad prudish. I trust their album will merit a parental advisory warning.

Still, the 'dirty' version has a great energy and this is a top rate single.

A band to watch.
