Review: 'BIFFY CLYRO'
'Saturday Superhouse (single)'

-  Label: '14th Floor records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '5th March 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'PRO 16190'

Our Rating:
A rousing song that’s destined to be a crowd pleaser for the Scots’ already rock solid fan base but unlikely to make many converts. Quite simply, the ‘My Sharona’ style beat has been done to death and doesn’t get resuscitated here.

The numerous past reviews in the archives of Whisperin’ & Hollerin’ give a good indication of the divided opinion about this band. Their hard working credentials are beyond reproach but there’s nothing on this single to give them the musical edge over hundreds of other bands trading in the same sound.

Singer Simon Neil is quoted as saying that the band “was never just about guitars bass and drums- we’ve always tried to use as much weird shit as possible”.
Would that were the case here instead of the same old same old.

If you’re fan you’ll buy this irrespective of my opinions and you will therefore need to know that the band’s marketing team are well on the ball as the single hits the shops in three versions with three different ‘exclusive’ studio tracks which will not be on their next album (Puzzle)
These tracks are:
CD single: Scared of Lots of Anything
Gatefold, coloured 7" version 1=. I'm Behind You
Gatefold, coloured 7" version 2: Miracle of Survival

So now you know!
