This experimental Bristol quartet scour for darkened areas of microcosmic/macrocosmic consciousness, and that is where their light shines brightest of all.
Atonal loose funk opener ‘Do One’ charters a shimmering and psychotic sledge-out into the darkness and dysfunctional stream-of-consciousness below. The vocals loop in on themselves and guitars burn holes in the mix as they screech and warp with cacophonous reverb before the charred rock fallout is left to glow with strange significance in the aftermath.
‘Tell You Tomorrow’ follows up, reeking of discomfort. Awash with sardonic parodies of the proverbial ‘bright side’, the brooding rock spectre emits dissatisfaction with standard-response bullshit leaving the twisted consequences fully exposed. It feels like psychosis, and it sounds like death metal as it screams from the fringes of society with a strangled sense of evil intent.

Final track‘Thousand Year War’ is a soundscape that bravely builds to emulate epic sized intent before imploding in a blurry onslaught of lightning-fast power chords that descend as the bleeping vintage synth noises weave a binary spell on the devastation left behind. Fading out on a film-score loop of machine generated noise, it completes a three-track collection that seeks to showcase the dark-sided and diverse range of an outfit not overly given over to melody, instead drawing upon the power to melt traditional structures.
For LIGHT OF WORDS are capable of genre-bending with the power of their white-heat take on speechless frustration.
