Review: 'PALLOT, NERINA'
'Learning To Breathe'

-  Label: '14th Floor'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '8th January 2007'-  Catalogue No: '14FLR18CD'

Our Rating:

NERINA PALLOT’s sound may seem to be embracing the mainstream, but having released her debut album on a UK major, she has as much reason to be disillusioned as the next artist.

‘Learning To Breathe’ demonstrates a love of country, folk and rock – echoes of all three are evident in the uplifting title track, which is taken from the 2006 long player ‘Fires’. Bright, breezy and unchallenging, the 7” features a piano-led cover of the JOY DIVISION classic ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, whilst other versions include a brand-new track, ‘Vena Cava’.

A seamless addition to commercial station playlists, this is easy on the ear, and reminiscent of the video-era 80’s.
