Review: 'SNOWFIGHT IN THE CITY CENTRE'
'SIX SECONDS'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '5th March 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'SICNOTE 029'

Our Rating:
With their new single, "Six Seconds", SNOWFIGHT IN THE CITY CENTRE have embraced the early sound of Bloc Party to the point of plagiarism. It took a while to pin point exactly why, but after a while the penny dropped. They must *really* adore "Like Eating Glass" (Silent Alarm) because this is exactly what SITCC's song sounds like. And why not? It's a good number, and
they won't be the first people on earth taking inspiration from other artists. Standing on the shoulder of giants and all that...

The thing is, apart from the pretty, if not predictable noises, the point of the song is a little hard to grasp. "I don't wanna wait six seconds more!!!" goes the chorus. Why? Why not? What's so special about six seconds? Why not 8.5? Why not 15 minutes? Do they have stop-clocks implanted in their brains? A minor point, but one that highlights the pretentious twaddle being churned out by such bands at the moment.

Other than that, it's the same old gubbins. Not much else to say really.
