Review: 'CONSPIRATORS, THE'
'Rocket the the Sun EP'

-  Label: 'Own Label'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'February 2007'

Our Rating:
Hailing from the sleepy North Yorkshire town of Bedale, indie popsters THE CONSPIRATORS have been busy ruffling a few feathers with their loud and bouncy blend of Blondie-inspired disco rock.

Their debut “Rocket to the Sun” EP is a good introduction to the quirky range of styles that this band clearly love to play with. The opening track, “Connected” could be the soundtrack to a kitsch Sci-Fi from the early 80s a-la Buck Rogers, whereas the Stomp-Stomp-Stomp of “Turning Green” is probably what Debbie Harry would sound like if she was fronting the Jam.

“In Session” has quite possibly the best choral lyrics known to man, “Did you see the pillock run away?” “Pillock” being a much under-used word these days. Except perhaps in North Yorkshire.

“Rocket to the Sun” Is a bloody good listen, and is likely to propel you back to the pre-Brit Pop sounds of the early 1990s, with real a real indie sensibility, bloody good fun, and highly bonkers to boot. Good stuff.
