'SMOKERS OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL DOORS'

-  Label: 'KITCHENWARE'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '18th June 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'SKCD93'

Our Rating:
Choosing Jacknife Lee, famed for his work with Snow Patrol, U2 and Bloc Party, as producer for EDITORS' second album set alarm bells ringing when the overproduced drum sound of this track kicked off proceedings. However, initial concerns were quashed when this developed into a fine, rousing anthem which will act as a powerful opener to the forthcoming second album An End Has A Start.

Utilising a guitar, piano and bass combo to great effect and demonstrating a fine knowledge of the most appealing chord changes the song leaves a lasting effect on the listener whilst the anthemic nature of the track makes it a certain favourite on this summer's festival circuit.

Without meaning to appear cynical, its almost as if the track was written with this in mind. Only the title betrays that the song has more serious intentions. Indeed, if you’ve ever been unfortunate enough to see the sick smoking outside a hospital you’ll know exactly what Editors mean.
