Review: 'LEE, BEN'
'Ripe'

-  Album: 'Ripe'
-  Genre: 'Pop'

Our Rating:
Seven albums in and Ben Lee returns with another fine Indie pop release. Arguably better known for collaborations with the likes of Ben Folds and Ben Kweller, forming a band imaginatively titled 'The Bens', he has to be one of the only guys in the world who can claim he's worked with Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore AND Kylie Minogue. But on with the review...

'Ripe' isn't too dissimilar to his last offering 'Awake is the new Sleep' and is, quite simply, a masterclass in pure power pop. True to his love of collaborations, there's a whole host of big names on this record. Good Charlotte's Joel Madden provides some vocals on the moving 'Sex Without Love' and Mandy Moore drops in for a vocal back-and-forth with Ben on 'Birds & Bees'.

If you're after an impressive and risky Indie record you could do a lot worse than check out Ben Lee.
