Review: 'SKY LARKIN'
'MOLTEN'

-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '15th October 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'DTTR037'

Our Rating:
If you've been on the LOS CAMPESINOS trail this year, you will have bumped into Katie Harkin, Doug and Nestor as the Welsh band's irrepressible English comrades. SKY LARKIN have been Dance to the Radio frontrunners for some time now - getting on-stage praise from the ¡FORWARD, RUSSIA! cadre at last year's Carling Leeds Weekend Festival and featuring on all sorts of national radio live performances in recent months.

But now the trio are unleashed - free of the university studies that had kept them bubbling without boiling. Live gigs just get better and better and this second single shows off their distinctive keyboard/guitar fragments - thrown around in a storm of indie disco toughness. Katie's strongly subtle voice is the star of the show. Her knowingly mysterious delivery of non-innocent and possibly incriminating lyrics is joyfully unsettling. In "Molten" and in its companion "Keepsakes" there's a smart something going on, where someone knows where the joke is pointed. And you can never be sure it isn’t you. So pay attention, and get ready to be Larkinned.
