Review: 'SUPER FURRY ANIMALS'
'RUN AWAY'

-  Label: 'ROUGH TRADE (www.roughtraderecords.com)'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '29th October 2007'-  Catalogue No: 'RTRADSCD419'

Our Rating:
“This song is based on a true story, which would be fine if it wasn't autobiographical,” is perhaps one of the best openings to a single... ever.

Another sample from the SFA's fantastic 'Hey Venus!' album, Run Away contains everything that has made the band something to notice again. Perfect pop structure, a catchy chorus and a rather pleasant tune; this is something they've always been adept at, and even now the songs are stripped down of their weirdness, they're still something to write home about.

The b-sides are as b-sides should be – songs that aren't quite as good as the album, but in the same vein (a mixture of 50's pop and Beatles songwriting) and enjoyable. The Super Furries have benefitted from their back to basics approach this year, and although this song sounds better played with the rest of the album, it's another blinding single that will ensure they remain revered in years to come.
