T.Jae Christian: The Vanishing Breed
Here's some old-style country sentimentality, impeccably played and produced, with the warm, rich tones of T. Jae to carry you through the familiar themes of love, loss and hard times. Grab a bottle and listen all the way through as you contemplate your own times, good or bad.
Paul Allan Coons: The Ride Of Life
With T. Jae Christian producing and T. Jae's excellent band behind him, Paul Allan Coons brings a slightly gruffer sound to a similar compilation of old style country songs. These are songs of a life where values are traditional and through all the ups and downs, the cheating and the fighting, a man stands by his family and his family stand by him. Do these lives exist? Well, perhaps they do but these sort of songs always seem to evoke a small-town American way of life that, by all accounts, is disappearing fast. Every nation, though, has a myth about its ideal way of life, and the likes of Paul Allan Coons won't go hungry pandering to the American version of that myth. As for non-Americans who go for this sort of stuff, well I guess we all like to daydream. Amongst this collection of likeable, if workaday, songs I have to say that the writing of Terry Goldsby stands out as having the stamp of class. Otherwise it's honky-tonk business as usual.
