Review: 'BOULDING, HELEN'
'BREATHE'

-  Label: 'MAID IN SHEFFIELD (www.helenboulding.com)'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '26th November 2007'

Our Rating:
My, my, aren't there a lot of female singer songwriters around at the moment? It's not a bad thing – for every Kate Nash there is a Scout Niblett. Helen Boulding is let loose to capitalise on the pretty voice and piano craze that appears to have defined 2007, albeit only slightly. And wow, if this isn't one of the worst pieces of watered down shite to have been produced in, ooh, the last six months. Breathe is a lame duck of a ballad, standard in the extreme and to the detriment of anything that could be considered artistic.

You should never judge a book by its cover, but you can easily judge a CD by its font. Have a look at the CD, look at the font of the logo and you will know exactly what to expect from this CD. Yes, it's marketing, people, but you don't have to fall for it every time.

This song is crap. Natalie Imbruglia would turn this down straight away. Hollyoaks would embrace it, of course. I'm sure it would sound lovely on a mother's day compilation, but some of us are looking for a little more than that.
