Review: 'Bonde Do Rolè'
'Marina Gasolina'

-  Label: 'Domino'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: 'November 2007'

Our Rating:
The Bondo Do Rolè crew are MCs Marina Vello and Pedro D'eyrot alongside DJ Rodrigo Gorky.

They describe their sound as the ultimate in stupid party music; a pretty fair way to sum up this manic single that lies somewhere between hip hop and rave.

The track mutates into five different mixes on this cd single including one attributed to Peaches.

Their brand of streetwise mash up is similar in intent and effect to MIA's excellent Kala album released earlier this year. MIA called that the product an assembly of "immigrant travel stuff" with beats and rhythms plundered from a variety of sources. Bondo Do Role, who originate from Brazil but are now relocating in Berlin, obviously relish a similar cut and paste approach to dance music.

I love the way Marina chimes "Afrika Bambaataa" like this was a chorus in itself and the jerky energy is both fun and funny.

As a novelty one off its a winner all the way - whether they have enough ideas to sustain it remains to be seen .
