Our Rating:

‘The Hours We Kept’ is the brilliant new single from Yorkshire pop purveyors LIKE A THIEF.

Racing piano and breathless vocals keep suspense levels high during this rockabilly pop handclap examination of body-clock confusion. Other features include the twang of a warm semi-acoustic and an understated yet undeniable melody as Holly Jazz Lowe’s new-wave vocals steer this gradually rolling stone through the muted palms and into a mini-skank fresh from the kitchen sink.

Flip-side ‘Calling All Dilemmas’ gathers momentum to leave you breathless. Equally high on drama but principally driven by the keys, it’s appeal lies in the ratting acoustic and the staccato showtune melody. Both do more than enough to keep your ears tuned to the sound of this Scarborough quartet, as these two torch-burning songs leave your ears smouldering in suspense
