Review: 'STANSON, JIM'
'HEARTFULL OF FIRE'

-  Label: 'self released'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '5th May 2007'

Our Rating:
This album is billed as songs from the heart based on experiences of the heartbroken. The title track's lyric of "love gone worng, love gone right" sums up this scenario.

Neither the messages nor the songs are complicated, but they are rendered with enough discernable passion and directness that only heartless listeners will bemoan their clichéd qualities.

'One Too Many' check lists the standard excesses of drinks, debts , thrills and pills that go with this territory. Philadelphia born Stanson is clearly too fully emersed in the rock'n'roll lifestyle to consider arguments for character reform.

So, what you get then is full on, no frills electric blues rock with Stanson on vocals and electric guitar backed up by local musicians plus a few luminaries like Jim Wieder (The Band, Bob Dylan, Keith Richards) on guitar and Kurt Johnston (Bon Jovi, Sugarland) on pedal steel and dobro.

Clocking in at just under an hour, a little is made to go a long way but charged up rockers like 'Running Back to You' and 'Sad Beauty' make the journey worth your while.
