Review: 'INNER RAGE'
'DISARRAY (EP)'

-  Label: 'www.myspace.com/innerragemusic'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: 'October 2008'

Our Rating:
INNER RAGE are only a 3 piece. But good God do they seem like there’s a lot of them! The trio’s original crew got together in Brazil in 1996; two of them then moved to London to entrench themselves in the underground death-metal scene, where further dissipation and circumstance left them with only one of the original members remaining, guitarist and vocalist Thiago Carvalho, but also with a tremendous rhythm section in the form of bassist Yusuf Tary and drummer Nicolas Soteri.

Despite these initial setbacks and tentative stop-starts, an excellent EP comes in the form of Disarray, recorded and released in 2006. The confident surge of menacing yet thrilling fusion-affected metal, guarantees a safe ride in a seemingly disorderly and war-torn world. But these are not random fumbling tinkers, trying to form a chaotic vision, this is an ordered and patient orchestration. Inner Rage are confident and pointed, and their music contains strong elements of tribal gut-wrenching rhythms and even more folky ones, including what can only be described as Hassidic beats.

The band recorded and released the EP themselves, as they are still unsigned, yet managed to create a sound so large it could relieve any angst ridden psychosis, and provide accompaniment to a heavy all night session of intense substance abuse whilst playing the latest Quake game. Getting these guys signed is only a question of time, and once in a proper studio you know they’ll be able to use it to its max abilities.
