Review: 'IN CASE OF FIRE'
'THE CLEANSING'

-  Label: 'Search And Destroy (www.myspace.com/incaseoffire)'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '2nd March 2009'

Our Rating:
Search & Destroy Records are brought to you by Raw Power Management, previously responsible for the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine and Gallows.

Despite the obvious Iggy references, none of the above display much of the Stooges' wild abandon, however much Emo-core wind tunnel angst and up-to-11 amp overload they utilise. So this writer wasn't expecting much from In Case Of Fire. Surprisingly, though, 'The Cleansing' actually ain't too bad at all. Steven Robinson (guitar/ vocals), Mark Williamson (bass) and Steven's bro' Colin (drums) have been brought well into line by producer Gil Norton (Foos, Pixies, Bunnymen) and the serrated discipline they display finds 'The Cleansing' assaulting your ears like a pretty decent amalgam of an exceptionally pissed-off Feeder mixing it with Queens Of The Stone Age.

It's not remotely original, of course, but compared with most of the Emo slop this writer still suffers month in and month out, it's riven with ugency and actually sounds like its' creators might mean it. It's certainly OK and possibly more besides for now and suggests In Case Of Fire may be fanning flames before the year's out. Careful with those bellows now.
