Our Rating:
This CD slipped out late last year without much publicity. Having heard the CD, it’s high time to remedy that situation. The JIM JONES REVUE are described as “a London based Rock ‘n’ Roll band” , that is a bit like describing a Porsche as just “a car”. The band play a wild storming rock and roll/bar-room blues boogie, and this album, which was recorded live with no overdubs in a 48 hour period, is the nearest thing to having the band in your living room!

The album features ten tracks, starting as it means to go on with Princess & the Frog, a fast paced howling rock and roll number that sounds like someone has mixed Little Richard with Iggy and the Stooges in a blender, and poured the contents into your stereo. This is followed in quick succession by a cover version of Little Richard’s “Hey,hey, hey, hey, before thundering into their download only first single, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Psychosis.”

After this, the energy levels drop slightly as the next couple of songs are more blues/boogie flavoured. Then as we hit another cover, Mack Vickery’s “Meat Man”, which was written for Jerry Lee Lewis the energy levels are back to full on. This continues through “Make It Hot” annd “Who’s Got Mine?”, before ending up with the recently released (download again) single, the bump ‘n’ grind blues of “Cement Mixer”

In all this is one of the best recent releases around, and is an absolute must for any Rock ‘n’ Roll /blues fan. Buy, beg, borrow or steal a copy today. Played loud it can make your ears bleed!
