“Looks like it’s raining again,” repeats the chorus of this song, and that’s just how it makes you feel. The dulcet, mid-tempo indie-rock number is playing right now and I’m looking outside as the sky that was clear and blue yesterday, pelts down precipitation and thunder.
I can hear it being played in the general store on Neighbours, that kind of song that you wouldn’t really notice – it falls into the background however loud and prominently you try to play it. It’s kind of reminiscent of one of Gene’s more forgettable moments, with perhaps the overall vibe of Crowded House. The sentiment doesn’t raise any kind of feeling in me, and by the end of the song I’m wondering if they are responsible for this downpouring of rain.
It’s conventional guitar music – nothing to kick as such, but nothing to be doing back-flips about either. Virgin Radio, however, might just love it.
