Review: 'Basement Jaxx'
'Feelings Gone'

-  Label: 'XL Recordings'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '21st September'

Our Rating:
What did I do to deserve this? C'mon, the original version AND half a dozen mixes?

I've never liked Basement Jaxx and have found their chart-friendly dancefloor-filing fodder to slide across the spectrum of irritant to abhorrent. Theirs is a name that's long been popular to drop by office tossers who want to make out that they're a bit cool by liking dance music. The relentless ubiquity of some of their biggest hits - in particular 'Where's Your Head At?' and 'Oh My Gosh' - has only cemented my dislike of their commercially-orientated brand of disco-funk.

However, I do have to concede that the aforementioned hits were at least catchy. 'Feelings Gone' is smooth to the point of being bland and entirely forgettable. Even after hearing all seven versions on succession. Don't say I didn't give it a fair hearing!
