This debut three-tracker from this Leeds-based four-piece is a swaggering, bluster-filled shot of adrenalized garage blues, and while it's clearly nothing new, it is pretty damn good.
Opener 'Lose Control' explodes in a flurry of trebly guitars and yelping vocals, before the slower 'Preacher' stretches its sinews with a psychedelic guitar line underpinned by a strolling bassline. There are points when Mitch Cameron's vocals sound not dissimilar to Jim Morrison at his wildest, were he to front The Black Angels. 'Open Up Your Mind' places the emphasis more on the psych than the blues, and lacks the punch of the other tracks, but I suspect it's still got the potential to be a grower. Regardless, it's a strong start and no mistake.
