Review: 'DJ CHROME'
'WHO'S CRYING NOW?'

-  Label: 'PERFECTO'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: '2/6/03'-  Catalogue No: 'PERF43CDSP'

Our Rating:
If we're to base a review of DJ CHROME'S "Who's Crying Now?" purely on the Parisian-born DJ's CV, you'd be ransacking the thesaurus for superlatives, seeing as he's previously worked with/ remixed (deep breath) Todd Terry, Felix da Housecat, Bomb The Bass and - respect - Afrika Bambatta.

So when the end result is as anticlimactic as "Who's Crying Now?", the title does beg an unsympathetic response. Apparently, this is one of 2003's big Miami tunes, but there's very little groundbreaking here. The usual suspects apply: the breathily emotional female vocal, the dinky house-y piano, the clipped funky guitar break. All are present, correct and loathsomely obvious.

However, I'm not sweating my brains out in an Ibiza club with dawn breaking while I'm all luvved-up at this moment in time, so maybe don't try this at home kids. I prefer the dub version tacked on the end of this maxi-single, though whether you have the patience to wade through endless remixes to get that far is debatable.
