Review: 'MISERS, THE'
'Amplified Life Stories'

-  Label: 'Sonny Jim Records'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country' -  Release Date: 'June 28th 2010'

Our Rating:
Though they have been building up a strong fan-base in their local Herefordshire for nearly 10 years, The Misers have finally produced a debut album, Amplified Life Stories.

They are a duo consisting of guitarist Neil Ivison and keyboards player Adam Barry. Ivison writes all the songs and, as the albums title suggests, they are mainly of the confessional type, his themes including difficult relationships, insecurities and giving loved ones emotional support. He carries his sentiments off well thanks to a soulful, passionate voice reminiscent of Paul Carrack.

Morgan also plays bass admirably. And if there are echoes of Oasis here in the mix, it may well be due to the album being recorded at Monmouth's Rockfield Studios where the legendary '(What's the Story) Morning Glory' was produced.
