When reviewing his debut UK album "The Garden and The Arcade" a few months ago, "Ordinary Girl" stood out as the most obvious single. It is therefore appropriate that it is that track which has indeed been released as such.
The song has a melody you can hum along to, and a chorus which after a couple of listens manages to place itself in your head. Essentially, it does what a single should do – demonstrate the best work of a particular artist. While Thompson is doing nothing new and is not head of the class in what he does, his music is genuine and there is much promise here.
